Tuesday Night Tara Practice

"Tashi Deleg!
Today is the fourth day of our prayers for the pandemic to subside.
Today we will recite the prostrations and praises of the 21 Taras.
This practice is extremely widespread in Tibet. For centuries, all
Tibetans whether male or female, young or old have recited it either in
the morning or in the evening. We have a strong belief that Tara will
help. My mother, even though she can’t read, learned Tara orally and
recites it daily.
Tara is an emanation of Chenrezig ( Avalokitesvara), a manifestation of
his compassionate activity. Chenrezig is the embodiment of the love of
all the Buddhas. When he appears in the form of a goddess, we feel
even more strongly how his nature is like a mother’s love. At this time,
when the entire world is faced with suffering, thinking of others with
love is even more necessary than at any other time. We need to
counter Corona with Karuna (compassion). If all of our countries and
people come together to bear the responsibility together, it is certain
that we will soon be freed from this ordeal. Everyday, we hear in the
news and social media of many situations that move us. Our heroes on
the frontline, doctors and nurses are making great sacrifices to battle
the epidemic. Likewise, delivery services, police, soldiers, volunteers
and many others are working hard for our sake. Because of this, I have
the feeling that our problem is not that there are not enough loving
people in the world. It is not that we lack compassion. It's just that
many people don’t have enough courage and lack someone to inspire
them. They need to know that someone like Tara is there to support
them and has their back. We all need to do our bit to inspire each other
and to comfort each other. This is the basis of happiness of humanity.
Sadly, in a few places, this pandemic is being used as a way to
discriminate against certain groups of people. A group of people is not a
single entity; it’s not made up of individual human beings. No one, no
matter who they are, wants to be infected with the virus. No one wants
this hardship. At such times as these, it’s important to put ourselves in
other people’s shoes and reflect."

Hello! I am Tara #20.

our new production of  "Tara And Her Twenty-One Emanations"

"
Studying the Dharma is entirely up to you. If you want to study or you
don't want to study it's up to you. There is no law telling you what to do.
One thing I can say is to think about it carefully. It's really up to you.
And then, if you think it's helpful, then you take it but it is entirely up to you."

In answer to the Chorus question "Rinpoche, can you please give us advice about studying the Dharma?"
Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche
Chorus audience and performance August 6, 2010 NYC

Thank you so much for that beautiful singing and prayer by the Milarepa Children's Chorus
to Tibet's Je Tsongkapa (teacher of the first Dalai Lama.) I am sure the singing has a
good impact and effect on their life. The effect of Tara will be in their life forever ...
this performance is related  to the Tibetan tradition of making offerings. So thank you!

"Thank you for sharing the photographs of the Milarepa Costume Party!
How inspiring and especially reassuring that children are exposed to such sanity on one hand
and to the existence of peaceful and wrathful dieties and how to prepare and deal with such energies!!!
What powerful seeds of preparation for this life of course but also for the bardo!
You are like a fairy, magician, gardener of hearts... helping them to flourish...
It soothes my heart to know that this is happening. Khenpo is so happy with you I am sure...
May you and your joy live forever!"
Love, Liliane Busby
Montreal, Canada November 2, 2009

"Did I actually express in words to you how wonderful your
Chorus was in so many ways in their performance last night?

I am not sure that I did, and I want to be certain that you "hear" it, read it, from me.
It is really amazing what you are doing with them. And it has far-reaching effects."
